While I love every collection that Brandin creates I have to say that Once Upon A Halloween is by far my most favorite....so much so that I asked Brandin during the last Winter CHA why she hadn't created one........and then she did!!  And she did it great!!  I couldn't have asked for more!!  I love the month of October, I love the colors of the season, I love going to the Pumpkin Patch, and I love that Brandin used purple in her designs with this collection!!  I love this collection for its soft yet vibrant colors, the traditional and non traditional colors, the fun graphics and the fact that you can create a themed Halloween project...or not!  When I saw the little spiders in the collection I knew I had to go back a few Halloweens and use the pictures of my grandson Trevor who was 3 at the time and was a spider, thanks Brandin, that was perfect...along with the beautiful shades of purple!
Besides featuring my cute little grandson...who is now 6....I wanted to highlight the journaling cards I used and that each collection that Brandin creates includes.  I scrapbook for various reasons but the top reason is to capture the moments that create great memories.  Now these moments can happen at anytime, a birthday party, a holiday, a vacation, an event and yes everyday.  To me sometimes these are the most powerful and a photo and even just a few words can bring that memory right back.  This particular Halloween sticks with me because my grandson wanted to be a spider so bad and the costume he got he liked at first but then later closer to Halloween, when we couldn't find another costume, he decided he didn't like it.  The costume was a one piece black pajama like suit and then there was a vest that went over it that had the spider and web on it.  He didn't like the vest.  So I got some glow in the dark fabric paint and painted the web right onto the black pajama and then removed the spider from the vest and sewed it to the suit.  He was thrilled!!  Grandma to the rescue!  So when I look at these pictures that's what I remember.  I also love that he is barefoot....always barefoot....even to this day. And ironically....today he is terrified of spiders, lol!!

Anyway, I used one of the journaling cards to jot down a few words that would trigger that memory and used that as part of my design.  Thats what I love about these journaling cards, you CAN use them as part of your design!  I also use them as decorative elements as well, they are works of art in and of themselves and look great tucked in here and there, especially in a great cluster.

Families are Forever

Families.....that is what life is all about.  I am blessed to have the majority of my family close by and I get to spend lots of time with them.  Quick Quotes has some fantastic quotes printed on Vellum regarding Families, and make doing a layout so easy!!
I used the Quick Quotes line One Fine Day and isn't that Quote the best?  I love it!
I inked the edges of the vellum to give it a sort of frame or boarder, some dimension.  A little fussy cutting with the flowers in the corner helped to ground the photo by tucking the photo under them.
I love to add little strips of boarders here and there to help the draw the eye around the layout, so remember boarders don't have to be full strips.  Tone on tone, boarders of one color on top of an area of the layout that is either the same color or one that is close, is also a great way to add texture...and dimension.
Another thing I love to do is to add my journaling on little strips, another way to ground the photo :)  I love Quick Quotes Die Cuts!!!  I added the little Fun Flowers after inking them with the Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking Inks, so simple and such a great touch.  I love the look of the inks when dry, they really do look soft like powder!
As I am working on a layout, it goes through several stages in my mind, initial design, bare basics, title, journaling and then, what is it missing?  On this layout the little touch I gave was the cute little banner flags under the trim.  Definitely one of my go to techniques lately, kind of just finishes it off.
And there you have it...my family layout...of my oldest daughter and her family!

For Jenna

So Jenna is getting a new room.....in a new house and she is not too happy about it.  Jenna doesn't like change....at all.  So I thought I would make her a new sign for her new room, maybe it will make her smile a little and warm up to the idea :)
She is going to stay with her purple theme for her new room so the Quick Quotes Dreamscape line was perfect for her sign!

I applied the paper directly to a little scalloped plaque that I had in my stash and then sanded around the edges to give it a finished look.  I inked the edges of the plaque with Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Limeade, a q-Tip worked great to get into the scallops.
I used the PowderPuff Chalking Ink in Purple Passion to stamp the cute little saying along the side of the plaque....it so totally describes Jenna so it was the perfect touch!!  I added a Frosted DragonFly and just love what it adds to the little sign! The Chipboard is also from Quick Quotes and with that I just stamped more Purple Passion on the flower portion and Limeade on the stem/leaf area.  When stamping the chipboard I simply lie the chipboard onto my desk, which is covered in glass and press the pad directly onto the flat surface, it cleans up great with a wet wipe :)  I stamped the folded coffee filter under the purple flower with Limeade, Lemonade and Green With Envy.  And I couldn't find an Alpha in a color that matched very well so I chose a white alpha and stamped it with my Limeade Ink.....perfect match!!
I added Ranger Stickles to the stem and leaf portion of the flower and glossy accents to the flower itself and then sprinkled on some Sparkle Fibers.  I added Glossy Accents to my alpha as well.

I hope she loves this sign for her new room!!

National Scrapbooking Day with Quick Quotes

We're excited to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day with our Quick Quotes friends and fans!  What better way than to have a fun blog hop!!!  During our hop you will see inspiration from all of the Design Team for our current blog challenge.  Please visit the blog for full details how to play along with our challenge.
This month's challenge is fussy cutting! Yep, cutting out some of those little details found in the graphics of the papers.  This allows you to create some dimension and texture by inking the edges....with none other than the fabulous Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking Inks, using pop dots to raise the cutting on the layout and layering the cut outs over other items including the photo.

This is the layout I created for this challenge:
I used the Summer Samba line here.....which has the best flowers to fussy cut!!  Flowers are usually the go to item for me to fussy cut because you can do so much with them!  In this case I cut a bunch of flowers out, cutting the petals loose too, then I inked the edges with Mango Mai Tai and on the bigger flowers I curled the petals around a pencil, the smaller I crumpled and straightened back out.  When adhering the flowers to the layout itself I created clusters by layering and raising some up with pop dots.
The Quick Quotes PowerPuff Chalking Inks are a to die for product, I use them....alot!!  The flourishes are actually taken from a larger Die Cut, The Whimsical Tree, I just trimmed off what I needed, used the Limeade and Green With Envy inks.  The finish on the inks is amazing, so soft and powdery!

If you have followed the sequence in order, you are done and its time to head back to the Quick Quotes blog!
Here is the hop sequence just in case you get lost along the way!

Now what's a Blog Hop without a fun prize?!!!  Since we are celebrating National Scrapbooking Day (annnd 6,000 fans over on Facebook!) we are all set to give away a grab bag full of crafty Quick Quotes goodness!   For sure it will contain some PowderPuff Chalk Inks as they are our featured product for May!

Sharing the Webster's Pages Love!

I just love working with Webster's Pages!  I wanted to share the layouts I have done recently with Webster's Pages products in digital format :)

Using the In Love collection, currently my favorite collection...who knew?  I love this collection for the obvious uses, Weddings, but it actually works for other things too!  I was able to create a layout about a young crush, 5 year olds, and have it be sort of on the masculine side since it features my young grandson Trevor:

and then here is another using that same collection but this time for my daughter Kari's wedding almost 10 years ago:
I love how I got almost completely different looks from the same collection!!

Moving right along to the Sunday Picnic collection in digital format.  I love the colors with this one and have used it alot, here are a few that I did:
Jenna...just being well.....Jenna!  Love the color combination here and it matches her shirt so well!!
And then here is Trevor, loving his first swim of the season last year....again perfect colors for this photo!!
One more with Sunday Picnic.....perfect for Easter photos!!

One of the newer collections is called Game On.  I don't have many sports related photos...in fact none, but I have successfully used this collection for lots of other things:
This is my Grandson Jeromy and his latest portraits, such a perfect match to the Game On line!!!
And then it worked perfect for Trevor's Preschool Graduation which had a red, white and blue theme!

So there you have it...some Webster's Pages love!!  Are you curious about digital and would like to give it try to see if you enjoy it?  Check out this beginner tutorial I did this month at InspireMe!

thanks for visiting!!

Documenting Disneyland with Quick Quotes!

Hi all....Julie here to share with you a Disneyland layout created with Quick Quotes paper line Summer Samba!!
I think that these colors are perfect for a layout of a little boy's day at Disneyland, dont you?  I had my Grandson Jeromy here from Arizona for his Spring Break this year, and since his vacation was not the same as my other two grandchildren my mom and I got the chance to take him to Disneyland all on his own....a special day!!
As you can see....he had a great day!!!  This quote from the quotes paper included in this collection could not have been more perfect.  I love when I can find a quote that so matches with the spirit of the layout!  I created a fun little banner as part of the title by cutting strips of paper and using a border punch on each edge then folding it over.  Also the Balloon chipboard was a great addition.  I simply inked the surfaces with the PowderPuff Chalking Ink, then the edges with a darker color and the strings another color and then added some stickles to the surface...they are so rich looking, I love them!!  I adhered them with some pop dots to get some dimension as well.
Tucking in some punched circles on a border gives the look of a cool scallopped edge. I simply punched the circles, inked the edges and applied stickles to the surface for some fun shine.  I love the journaling blocks that are included with the Quotes sheet, makes life so easy....and I simply added a frame around it by adding a larger piece of paper that was inked to help it show up better.
I hope that you enjoyed my colorful Disneyland layout as much as I did creating it!!

Ingredients:
Paper - Quick Quotes Summer Samba collection
Ink - Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking Ink (Blue Hawaiian, Blue Moon, Lemonade, Mocha Mama, Mango Mai Tai, Bloody Mary)
Chipboard - Quick Quotes Cupcake Bag O Chips
Alpha - Rusty Pickle, My Little ShoeBox
Bakers Twine - We R Memory Keepers
Punches - McGill, Martha Stewart

Thanks everyone for spending some time with me!

I just love the colors of Spring! Whether its pretty and soft pastels or bright bold colors they are my favorite!!  Quick Quotes has a great paper line called One Fine Day that is perfect for your favorite spring shots:
I had a canvas panel and some squares of chipboard that I received in my Quick Quotes Club Q kit last month and I decided to make a wall hanging with it and my One Fine Day collection, check it out:
I had this sweet little picture of my grandson taken at spring time a few years ago that has long been a favorite and it was a perfect match for this line of papers. I added lots of ink work, gotta love the PowderPuff Chalk Inks, some hand stitching, a great quote, and the beautiful chipboard butterfly by Quick Quotes.

This little wall hanging is going to look great in my turquoise and lime green themed bedroom!

Canvas Panel, Chipboard squares - Quick Quotes March Club Q
Ink - Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalk Inks - Mango Mai Tai, Tahiti, Limeade, Lemonade, Blue Hawaiian

A little more Quick Quotes inspiration!

Hi all....good Sunday morning to you!!  Julie here to share with you some inspiration from the Club Q kits from Quick Quotes!

I am in love with the deep edge canvas's!  I love that you can decorate the edges as well as the surface and that it can hang or sit on a shelf.  And I am in love with this piece of paper from Quick Quotes from the Tin Type line....I love the color scheme and you cant beat a paper with rays on it....screams summer and beach to me!!
So I started with this paper and a deep edge canvas and this is what I made:

First I used the Quick Quotes PowderPuff ink in Lemonade all over the edges and then went over the corners with PowderPuff ink in Mango Mai Tai.  Then I stamped the swirl pattern with PowderPuff ink in Baja Blue.
I love using this ink!!  It goes on so smooth and so rich!
I crumpled the paper and wet it a little then smoothed it out and applied it to the surface of the canvas...love the texture it gives.  I inked the Umbrella chipboard with the PowderPuff ink in Tahiti first and then lightly went over it with some Baja Blue.  The frame around the photo was border punched from the back side of the same paper...great way to use scraps and coordinate!  I lightly touched the border pieces with some Tahiti ink as well.

I hand made the rolled flowers, also from the scraps of the same piece of paper and touched the edges with some more of the Tahiti ink.  The Butterfly chipboard was covered in the Lemonade ink and the edges touched with Mango Mai Tai and then I spread a thin layer of Stickles over the surface.
Added my quote and some twine and I now have a beautiful altered canvas to display...that is if my daughter doesn't steal it, lol!!

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes paper - Tin Type 400
Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking Ink - Baja Blue, Tahiti, Lemonade, Mango Mai Tai
Chipboard - Quick Quotes Umbrella, Quick Quotes Butterfly
Quick Quotes Quote - Adventure
Gems - Webster's Pages
Stamp - Tim Holtz
Twine - We R Memory Keepers
Punch - Martha Stewart
Flower and brads - Stash
Alpha - American Crafts

In Love by Webster's Pages

My new favorite collection!!!  In Love by Webster's Pages:

Traditional:
Clean & Simple:
My Daughter Kari got married 10 yrs ago in September and this was before digital was so big so we had actual prints....not files.  Somewhere along the 10 year span she had them scanned and put on disc.  When I saw this collection I asked her for the discs.  Its been such fun to look at them again and get to work with them in digital format.  What a good time we had!

This first layout I did captures a fun memory...brings a smile to my face everytime!!

Before the wedding started the photographer was taking pictures of the girls out in front of the grooms parents house where the wedding was held and the Ice Cream truck came by, Kari...in her dress and ready for the ceremony, ran out and stopped the truck and got a SpongeBob ice cream!!  None of us had any money so one of the guests arriving for the wedding paid, lol!  We were all terrified she would get it on her dress, she didnt, and it was great fun.  Later this incident was used as a trivia question during the reception..and that guest who paid for the ice cream had the answer, lol!!

My second layout is actually a lift of our Guest Design Team member this month, Carol Monson:

As soon as I saw the Dress motif and the ticket I knew what I was going to do!  I love how the Tiara also is so similar to Kari's!

What a great collection this is and what fun I am having creating with my daughters wedding photos...who knows...if I continue I can make a book for their 10th anniversary!!!
